Francophone countries endorse financial transaction tax
Posted on April 27th, 2011 by Ned Kelly
Finance ministers of low-income Francophone (mostly African) countries expressed a strong endorsement of a broad-based financial transactions tax, which they issued at the end of a meeting held Friday 15 April in Washington before the IFI spring meetings. They urge all G20 countries and others to adopt the FTT as put forward by France and Germany. This represents the first strong support for an FTT by a group of developing countries.
